The Office of Lifelong Faith Formation joyfully supports parishes throughout the Diocese of Portland in their mission to form disciples of all ages.
Through ongoing training, guidance, and practical resources, we partner with parish leaders to strengthen catechetical planning and to nurture the faith life of children, youth, and families.
Supporting Parishes in Forming Young Disciples
Our office provides tools and accompaniment to help parish catechetical leaders:
Build programs that foster continual growth in faith and understanding of the Gospel
Create welcoming environments where children and teens can encounter Christ, develop a personal relationship with Him, and participate fully in the life of the Church
Prepare children for the sacraments of Confirmation and First Holy Communion
The Family: The Heart of Faith Formation
The Church has long called the family the “domestic church”—the first and most important place where faith is lived, shared, and passed on. We recognize the profound role parents and guardians play in shaping a child’s relationship with God. Our mission includes supporting families as they grow together in prayer, service, and understanding of the Catholic faith.
Walking with Children and Youth at Every Stage
In the Catholic tradition, children and young people are among our most treasured gifts. For this reason, we commit ourselves to age‑appropriate, engaging, and faithful catechesis that accompanies them from early childhood through adolescence.
Whether through sacramental preparation, youth ministry, or family formation, we aim to help every young person discover the love of Christ and their place within the Church.
