The Diocese of Portland is seeking an experienced and collaborative Accounting Supervisor to lead Chancery Accounting Services and support the financial operations of parishes, schools, and cemeteries throughout Maine. Reporting to the Controller and Director of Parish Financial Services, this full-time exempt position oversees a team of onsite and remote bookkeeping professionals while helping ensure the accuracy, integrity, and effectiveness of financial operations across the Diocese. This role combines day-to-day accounting oversight with leadership, mentorship, and partnership, serving as a valuable resource to parish and diocesan staff while supporting sound financial stewardship and organizational success.
The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field, along with at least five years of progressively responsible accounting experience and prior supervisory experience. Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, internal controls, and audit processes is essential, while experience with nonprofit accounting, Sage Intacct, and advanced Excel functions is highly desirable. We are looking for someone who is detail-oriented, approachable, and committed to providing exceptional support and service to our parishes and ministries. An active, practicing Catholic is preferred; all employees are expected to respect and support the mission, values, and teachings of the Roman Catholic Church.

The Diocese of Portland is seeking an experienced Carpenter to join its Diocesan Construction (DICON) team. This full-time position performs skilled carpentry and general construction work for diocesan buildings and properties across Maine. Responsibilities include framing, remodeling, finish carpentry, flooring, drywall installation, roofing repairs, demolition, and general construction activities. The Carpenter works both independently and with a construction crew to complete projects safely, efficiently, and with high-quality workmanship.

The Diocese of Portland is seeking a compassionate and faith-filled Lay Hospital Chaplain to serve Catholic patients and their families at Maine Medical Center in Portland. Working in collaboration with the Diocese of Portland's Ministerial Services Office, the hospital’s Spiritual Care Department, and Catholic priest chaplains, this important ministry provides pastoral care, spiritual support, and a visible Catholic presence within the hospital setting. The chaplain will accompany patients through times of illness, crisis, healing, and transition, helping to identify spiritual and sacramental needs while offering comfort rooted in the Catholic faith.
This part-time position (24 hours per week, Monday, Tuesday, and Friday) includes visiting newly admitted Catholic patients, responding to pastoral care requests, coordinating sacramental ministry with assigned priest chaplains, maintaining appropriate patient records, and supporting Catholic volunteers who assist with hospital ministry. The successful candidate will be a practicing Catholic in good standing, able to work collaboratively with hospital staff, clergy, volunteers, patients, and families in a professional healthcare environment. Candidates should have completed at least one unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) or possess equivalent institutional ministry experience. Prior experience in healthcare or pastoral ministry is preferred.
