Holy Orders is the sacrament through which bishops, priests, and deacons are ordained to serve the Church in Christ’s name. Through this sacrament, men are configured to Christ in a particular way and entrusted with ministries of teaching, sanctifying, and shepherding God’s people. Bishops receive the fullness of Holy Orders, priests share in the bishop’s ministry through preaching, celebrating the sacraments, and pastoral care, and deacons serve through the ministry of word, liturgy, and charity. Holy Orders is a lifelong call to serve God and the Church with humility, fidelity, and love.
