“With God, nothing is impossible; life triumphs over death and grace over sin: let us live the sacrament of reconciliation intensely so that our relationship with him may be alive beyond our betrayals." - Pope Leo XIV
During both Lent and Advent each year, parishes in the Diocese of Portland offer additional hours for confession. Through the Sacrament of Reconciliation, we experience God's mercy, our sins are forgiven, and we are healed.
The Season of Lent is a time of penance and spiritual renewal that helps us prepare for the celebrating of Christ's paschal mystery. Confession opens our hearts to receiving him, which is why it is such a wonderful gift to experience as Holy Week approaches.
The season of Advent is a time of preparation for the celebration of Our Lord's birth. It is a time to honor the way in which the Lord comes into our lives every day, and it is a time to look forward in hope to the second coming of Jesus in his glory. Advent, like Lent, is also a time of heightened prayer, penance, and preparation so that we may be truly ready for the Lord's coming.
