In celebration of St. Francis of Assisi's feast day, St. Thérèse of Lisieux Parish in Sanford and St. Matthew Parish in Limerick are sponsoring a pilgrimage to the St. Anthony Franciscan Monastery in Kennebunk on October 3. The day will include confession at 10 a.m., Mass at 11 a.m., a picnic lunch, and a Rosary walk through the beautiful abbey grounds at 1 p.m. weather permitting.
The monastery is one of three pilgrimage sites designated by Bishop Ruggieri, as the Catholic Church celebrates the Jubilee Year of St. Francis, commemorating the 800th anniversary of his death. Those visiting a pilgrimage site and fulfilling other requirements, such as attending Mass and confession, may receive a plenary indulgence.
Join the parishes for this special day of prayer, fellowship, and reflection in honor St. Francis! Please contact Ashley Buxton in the parish office at [email protected] to register. There is no cost to attend.
