The Diocese of Portland has established Courage and EnCourage chapters in Portland. Courage serves men and women who experience same-sex attractions and who are committed to striving to live chastely in accordance with the teaching of the Catholic Church. EnCourage serves parents, spouses, family members, and friends of persons who experience same-sex attractions, offering support as they seek to accompany their loved ones with faith, charity, understanding, and fidelity to the teaching of the Church.
These ministries provide prayer, fellowship, and pastoral accompaniment centered on a growing relationship with Jesus Christ. Both seek to offer a welcoming and respectful setting in which the dignity of every person is upheld, and participants are supported in growing in holiness and living their Christian vocation faithfully.
Priest chaplains have been appointed to each ministry. For additional information about Courage or EnCourage, please visit click here.
Those who wish to speak privately with a chaplain about possible participation are invited to contact [email protected].
