Mount Merici Academy in Waterville has announced that Anastasia Shoulta will become head of school effective May 1, 2024.

Hundreds gathered at the Basilica of Ss. Peter & Paul in Lewiston on Sunday, April 14, for Solemn Evening Prayer held in thanksgiving for the episcopal ministry of Bishop Robert Deeley. After 10 years as chief shepherd of the diocese, Bishop Deeley will be transitioning to the role of bishop emeritus with the upcoming ordination and installation of Bishop James Ruggieri on May 7.

On the third Sunday of Easter, April 14, Bishop Robert Deeley celebrated the Neophyte Mass at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. Each year, this Mass recognizes those men, women and children from various parishes who were fully initiated into the Catholic Church at Easter through the sacraments of baptism, confirmation, and Eucharist.

The popular Theology in the County series returns April 25 with a presentation from Trent Horn of Catholic Answers on “The Beginner’s Guide to Defending Your Faith.” Horn will join via livestream, but the gathering will be in person at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 12 Chapman Road in Presque Isle.

One of the top student robotics teams in the state of Maine, from All Saints Catholic School in Bangor, will be competing to be the best in the world. The students will be participating in the Vex Robotics World Championship in Dallas, Texas, from April 27-April 30. It is the largest middle school robotics competition in the world with 498 teams from over 50 countries competing.

Holy Cross School is proud to announce its new leadership team for the 2024-2025 academic year, with beloved and esteemed educators from the Holy Cross family assuming new positions. William Ridge, the current assistant school principal, will be the new principal, and third grade teacher Shelley Assia will be the new assistant principal. Both new roles will start July 1, 2024. Tim Stebbins, current Holy Cross principal, is retiring at the end of the 2023-2024 school year.
