In 2021, Pope Fracis established World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly, to be celebrated each year on the fourth Sunday of July. This year we commemorate the day on July 28. I certainly have very fond memories of growing up with my own grandparents in Rhode Island.

The Roman Catholic Diocese of Portland and Saint Joseph’s College of Maine jointly announce the appointment of Reverend Patrick J. Finn as chaplain for the college, effective August 1, 2024.

Youth throughout Maine are gathering this summer to learn about and strengthen their Catholic faith through the Totus Tuus program. Totus Tuus is hosted across the country in 50 dioceses, with programs in Maine held at 10 parishes. Sponsored by the Office of Vocations & Seminarians, sessions are led by college students and seminarians. More than 300 students throughout the Diocese of Portland are expected to take part in Totus Tuus this summer.

Two students who find joy in serving others and who seek to live out their Catholic values are this year’s winners of the Catholic Foundation of Maine Lila Grace Sullivan Amirault Scholarships.
