After much prayer, consultation, and reflection, it is with a heavy heart that I share with you my decision to close the high school division of St. Dominic Academy (grades 9-12) at the conclusion of the current school year. This is a very difficult decision, and I am saddened by the impact it will have on the St. Dominic community. The closure of the high school is a significant loss to the present St. Dominic community, as well as to alumni/alumnae and the broader Lewiston-Auburn area.

Team Blitz, a middle school robotics team from All Saints Catholic School, is building on a legacy of success with an invitation to VEX Robotics World Championships. The event, the largest robotics competition in the world, takes place from May 9-11 in Dallas, TX and Team Blitz is raising funds to make the trip a reality.

Brunswick, ME – St. John’s Catholic School proudly announces that 8th-grade student Joseph Stratman has been selected as a finalist in the 2025 University of Southern Maine (USM) CubeSat Design Competition. Competing as a one-person team, Joseph’s mission, OnPiste, will investigate the effects of radiation on electron ionization and the geomagnetic field’s influence on irradiance.

Suppose we try to capture what the early Church was like by turning to the four different passages found in the initial chapters of Acts of the Apostles. In that case, we will discover the following qualities and characteristics. The early Church was a real community.

Prince of Peace Parish will host a day-long Catholic School Choir Festival on Friday, March 28, 2025, at the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul in Lewiston. This inspiring event will bring together students from Maine Catholic schools and homeschool groups for a day of musical workshops and rehearsals culminating in a public concert. The festival is designed to offer students an immersive experience in ensemble singing and the rich traditions of liturgical music.

Monday, March 10, 2025 was a special day at St. Dominic Academy in Lewiston. Ms. Ann Slonina was recognized as the 2024 Maine Catholic School Teacher of the Year. Each year, the Diocese of Portland accepts nominations from all Catholic schools in the diocese. Faculty can nominate peers they believe best exemplify what it means to be a Catholic teacher.

The first time he stepped into a Catholic Church, Josh Morris of Wiscasset says it just felt right. “We walked in and, I don’t know, it was a sensation that this is how it should be,” he says. “It was like you’re directly in the presence of God.”

I discovered a phrase while reading a document from the recently concluded synod in Rome. The phrase is “protagonist of mission.” Basically, the phrase comes from the part of the document that speaks of the identity of the baptized. It asserts that every baptized person is a “protagonist of mission.” What does this mean, and how can I apply this to my own identity as a baptized disciple of Jesus Christ and as a member of His Church?
