John Patrick “J.P.” Yorkey will be the new principal at St. John’s Catholic School in Brunswick effective July 1, 2024. Shelly Wheeler has been named Superintendent of Maine Catholic Schools starting for the 2024-2025 school year. Wheeler has served as principal of St. John’s Catholic School in Brunswick with distinction since 2018.

Dawn Theriault will be the new principal of Saint Dominic Academy’s Lewiston campus. She will assume the role at the beginning of the 2024-2025 academic year. Theriault has a distinguished 25-year career as an educator and leader at Saint Dominic Academy.

Dr. Timothy Kane will be the new principal at St. James School in Biddeford effective July 1, 2024. Nancy Naimey is retiring after 11 years as principal.

More than 30 couples celebrate milestone anniversaries with Bishop Ruggieri at the Silver and Gold Anniversary Mass

On June 20th, Bishop Michael F. Burbidge of the Diocese of Arlington, chairman of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Committee on Pro-Life Activities, shared a message on the anniversary of the Supreme's Court's decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization.

June 24th celebrates the Nativity of St. John the Baptist in our Church. This day is a solemnity, the highest-ranking liturgical celebration in our Church. John the Baptist is very significant in the Diocese of Portland as our secondary patron along with St. Patrick. Our patroness is Mary, under the title of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception, and our Cathedral takes its name from her.

St. John’s Catholic School in Brunswick is celebrating as a student team placed first in the University of Southern Maine (USM) CubeSat Design Competition in the middle school category. The two-student team, named Team Europa, includes eighth graders Wesley Agnor and Gabriel Grondin.

So, start here.” Cheverus High School valedictorian Daniel McCartney spoke to his classmates at the 106th commencement urging them to find joy in every moment. Cheverus High School celebrated its graduation on Monday, June 3, at a packed Merrill Auditorium in Portland with Bishop James Ruggieri, family, and friends in attendance.

(John 6:55-56) Parishes throughout Maine celebrated the Feast of Corpus Christi on Sunday, June 2, with outdoor processions through their communities. From Machias to Portland, hundreds took part in Eucharistic processions, during which the Blessed Sacrament is carried in a monstrance through the church and into the streets.
