Today, we are launching an interview series as part of the new Maine Catholic podcast by speaking with Bishop Emeritus Robert Dealey, who served as the 12th Bishop of Portland for a decade. In April, Bishop Dealey traveled to the Diocese of Kumbo in Cameroon, and we're excited to learn more about his experience. Thank you for joining us, Bishop Dealey.
Welcome to the Auspice Maria podcast.

Dear Parents,
This week, the Church observes Natural Family Planning Awareness Week, a time often focused on the beauty of the Church’s teaching on human sexuality and openness to life. But today, I’d like to approach this week from a different, perhaps more foundational perspective—not with charts or methods or terminology, but with a simple encouragement: see, listen to, and love your children.
Welcome again to the Auspice Maria podcast. I'm Bishop James Ruggieri of the Diocese of Portland in Maine. And whether you're Catholic, curious, or somewhere in between, I want to invite you today into a conversation about something fundamental: how the sacraments, community, and tradition of the Catholic Church can lead us into a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ and into a deeper understanding of ourselves.
Studentreasures Publishing has announced 50 finalists in the 2024-2025 National Book Challenge. The Christmas Cookie Cookbook, written and illustrated by Mrs. Webster and Ms. Connolly's 4th grade classes at St. Brigid School in South Portland, was selected as one of the top 50 books this year. For this honor, each of the classes will receive a $50 gift card and every student will receive a published author certificate. These books were published earlier this year through Studentreasures’ free publishing program.
