The Most Reverend James Ruggieri celebrated his first Blue Mass as Bishop of Portland on Sunday, September 29 at the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul in Lewiston. This annual Mass, instituted in the Diocese of Portland after September 11, 2001, recognizes the dedication and service of law enforcement and first responders throughout the state of Maine.

Reverend Ndukong Kilian has been appointed parochial vicar for St. Paul the Apostle Parish in Bangor, effective September 13, 2024.

Kim was the pastoral life coordinator for Corpus Christi Parish in Winslow for 17 years before accepting this position. She succeeds Lori Dahlhoff who was the director for seven years.

Registration is now open for the Ignatian Spirituality Partnership of Maine’s “Ignatian Spiritual Exercises in Everyday Life” retreat. The virtual retreat runs from October through June 2025.

`Effective immediately, Director of Public Policy Suzanne Lafreniere’s title will be updated to include pro-life ministry liaison. This title change better reflects the work Suzanne is doing on behalf of the Diocese of Portland to advocate at the local, state and national level on pro-life issues.
